Philip & Carolina Levine

Bernard Little

Philip Levine, the former Mayor of Miami Beach and cruise industry entrepreneur, has long believed in the power of thoughtful leadership and responsible development. Together with his wife, Carolina, the Levine family established PL Ranch in Ocala as a part-time retreat that quickly became something more—a deep connection to Florida’s heartland and a growing commitment to land preservation and rural values.

While their roots remain in South Florida, the Levines were drawn to Marion County by its natural beauty, sense of community, and the freedom that open space provides. They see Ocala as a rare and special place—one worth protecting not just for its aesthetic charm, but for its role in preserving Florida’s identity.

For Philip, who championed smart growth and sustainability during his time in public office, PL Ranch reflects his ongoing belief in balancing progress with preservation. He and Carolina are passionate about supporting efforts to maintain Ocala’s rural character, open landscapes, and equestrian heritage.

Though PL Ranch is a part-time home for now, the Levines often say that their love for Ocala grows with each visit. “One never knows,” Philip often remarks, “when a part-time home becomes something more permanent.”

Their presence in the region is quiet but purposeful—focused on being good neighbors, thoughtful landowners, and active stewards of the land they now proudly call part of their family’s story.
