Our featured founder, Tami Bobo, is an extremely successful thoroughbred owner, breeder and pinhooker. From her childhood beginnings showing Arabians, Tami’s work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit have helped her achieve great success in the Thoroughbred business. She operates “First Finds” on the land formerly known as “Plumley Farm”.

Tami purchased her farm four years ago from Opal and Harold Plumley. Before the Plumleys, the farm was home to Mare Haven Farm developed in the 1950’s as one of the first Thoroughbred farms in Marion County. Many famous horses, including Zenyatta and D’funnybone have benefitted from the rolling hills, lush pasture, and mineral rich water that is such a part of this iconic farm.
To Tami, being a founding member of HFF is important for many reasons. She understands why we must protect the unique and vital aspects of Ocala’s equine industry, such as the soil and the mineral-rich water from the Aquifer, and knows such characteristics are irreplaceable.

Further, Tami understands development must be “smart development,” with a focus on protecting the area for future generations. HFF is also important to Tami as many people make a living in the equine industry. It is critical the community comes together and protects our farmland. Tami also recognizes the land and water in Ocala are critical for developing horses. Ocala has soil only found in three other places in the world, as well as a limestone ridge that creates the calcium-rich soil that is essential for building strong bones and strong race horses.
